Labour Court rejects worker’s claim over removal from firefighter panel

The Labour Court recommended that Dublin City Council should not concede a worker’s claim to be restored to its firefighter panel and have disciplinary action removed from his record. The Court’s recommendation was dated 7 November 2006. The worker said the Council’s investigation was flawed and that he had not been told his disciplinary case could affect his firefighter application. The Council said his employment record did not meet the good-character and reference requirements for the post. The Court found the investigation fair and the disciplinary sanctions warranted. It said the worker had resigned while under disciplinary sanction and did not recommend conceding his claim.
