The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive concede a review of Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Nurse Practitioner posts, and that nurses and midwives receive pension credit for days lost during a 1999 dispute. The recommendation was signed on 9 November 2006. The Irish Nurses Organisation and Psychiatric Nurses Association had made eight claims covering pay parity, reduced hours, allowances, career progression and pension credit. The Court did not recommend conceding claims for childcare-worker or therapeutic-grade pay parity, a Dublin weighting allowance, premium payments or a preceptorship allowance. It recommended that the parties jointly explore reorganising health-service work arrangements in connection with the reduced-hours claim. It urged the unions to reconsider participation in benchmarking so their claims could be examined through that process.
