The Labour Court recommended improved redundancy terms for 71 jobs at Dimplex Cleaning Systems’ Tralee plant, advising four weeks’ pay per year of service plus statutory entitlements. The recommendation was signed on 31 March 2006. The company had proposed four weeks’ pay per year inclusive of statutory redundancy entitlements. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought eight weeks’ pay per year plus statutory entitlements, arguing the offer was inadequate. Dimplex said lost markets and business losses left it unable to improve the package further.
