Labour Court recommends against bonus allowance for HSE workshop instructors

The Labour Court recommended against extending a bonus allowance to 62 workshop instructors in the Health Services Executive (HSE) - Western Area. The recommendation was signed on 19 April 2006. The Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union sought a €888.82 payment for the instructors, matching an allowance given to specified craft grades. The HSE argued the allowance was exclusive to those grades and that extending it could prompt wider claims. The Court found the allowance was payable only to specified craft grades, not to other grades linked to them for pay purposes. It therefore recommended against extending the allowance to workshop instructors.
