The Labour Court recommended that An Post and Pseu use 1 January 2003 as the staffing baseline for a productivity agreement, with payments taking effect from 7 October 2004. The recommendation was dated 7 November 2005. The agreement involved a 30% staff reduction in return for a phased 10.5% pay increase. Pseu sought a 1 January 2002 baseline and backdated increases, saying members had cooperated with staff reductions since then. An Post disputed any commitment to backdate payments. Other terms were to follow the draft agreement dated 17 June 2005.
