The Labour Court recommended that An Post pay Cpsu members Sustaining Progress increases, including 2% from 1 February 2005 and 1.5% from 1 May 2005, with later increases paid as they fell due. The recommendation, dated 1 November 2005, said retrospection should be treated as a liability and discharged when the company’s financial and commercial circumstances permitted. Cpsu sought the increases after concluding a pay and grading agreement with An Post. The Court said the union had fulfilled the requirements for payment so far as it could, and that its agreed work-practice changes were significant enough to support payment. An Post had argued further payments depended on savings from outstanding change programmes.
