The Labour Court recommended an ex gratia payment of two weeks' pay per year of service, without a ceiling, for two former Barnardos Regional Managers, in addition to statutory redundancy payments already made. The recommendation was signed on 19 October 2005. Barnardos had offered statutory redundancy only, while the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union sought enhanced terms, arguing that the redundancies were not voluntary. The managers' posts were abolished and replaced with fewer, higher-paid Regional Director posts. The Court recommended the additional payment after considering both sides' submissions.
