The Labour Court recommended that Iralco pay each affected worker’s outstanding redundancy amount in three instalments: one-third on 1 September 2005, one-third on 1 December 2005 and the balance on 1 April 2006. The recommendation was signed on 26 July 2005. The Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union said Iralco had failed to honour a redundancy agreement and had made line supervisors compulsorily redundant. The company said continuing losses meant it could not make further payments in the foreseeable future. The Court recommended a timetable for paying the outstanding amounts.
