The Labour Court recommended that Honeywell International Technologies T/A Honeywell Turbo Technologies (Formerly Known As Garrett Engine Boosting Systems) restore the existing public holiday agreement for four-cycle shift workers: double time for hours worked and time off in lieu. The recommendation was dated 4 July 2005. The Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union said the earlier agreement had not been rescinded when annualised hours were introduced. The company offered time and a half, a day off and a deduction from the reserved-hours bank, citing cost pressures. The Court found public holiday entitlements had not been addressed when the annualised-hours system began, so the earlier agreement remained in effect. It also recommended immediate discussions, including on a voucher system or holiday fund.
