In 2004, the Labour Court recommended restoring the previous €9.50 Saturday premium at First Citizen Nursing Home, Milltown, in addition to current rates. It also recommended a Sunday premium bringing pay to double normal time for each hour worked. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the company had withdrawn the weekend premium without prior consultation and sought €10 an hour on Saturdays and double time on Sundays. The company said its revised €9 hourly rate already compensated staff for weekend work. The recommendation was dated 15 December.
