In 2004, the Labour Court recommended sick-pay terms for Kilsaran Concrete Limited following a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union. The decision was dated 26 November 2004. The dispute concerned how an agreed scheme should operate. The Court recommended full net pay, made up of social welfare disability benefit, company sick pay and, where appropriate, CIF sick pay, followed by half net pay for an equal period. The benefit period would range from six to 15 weeks at each pay level, depending on years of service. The entitlement would apply to all employees covered by the agreement, whether or not they belonged to the CIF scheme.
