The Labour Court said the National Maternity Hospital was correctly interpreting a flexible working agreement on overtime for part-time staff. It recommended that the hospital and the Irish Nurses Organisation meet to resolve individual difficulties. The recommendation was signed on 8 December 2003. The union said staff should receive overtime rates for hours worked outside their rostered part-time shifts. The Court noted that one example in the agreement was inconsistent with the rest, and the hospital committed to pay in line with that example if the situation arose.
