The Labour Court recommended a review of the duties and responsibilities of Dublin City Council Planning Enforcement Officers after the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union sought to have their grade raised from Grade VI to Grade VII. The recommendation was dated 24 November 2003. The union argued that new planning legislation had added significant responsibilities. The council rejected the claim, saying an examination had found no evidence of additional responsibilities for the officers. The Court recommended that the parties agree terms of reference for a review in light of the new legislation and complete it within three months. If the issue remained unresolved, it could be referred back to the Court.
