The Labour Court recommended that Innill Doitean Teo restore its agreed sick pay scheme, monitor it and conduct a comprehensive review in December 2002. The recommendation was dated 29 April 2002. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the company withdrew the scheme without involving it in a review. The company said absenteeism had increased and some employees used the maximum sick pay before returning to work. The Court said the union should have taken part in reviewing the scheme and been told of management’s concerns with an opportunity to address them. It also recommended that the union cooperate with management on possible abuse concerns.
