The Labour Court recommended no concession of a 15% productivity-related pay claim by Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on behalf of 150 general operatives at Glaxo Smithkline. The recommendation was dated 26 November 2001. The Court said the claim was precluded by the pay agreement linked to the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. It recommended that the parties resume discussions on restructuring the skills-based pay system and identifying cost savings that could benefit employees.
