In 2001, the Labour Court recommended a 6% increase for Kelly Timber Limited employees, excluding four docket men who received extra payments. It recommended that the four accept a one-year lump-sum buyout of their premium, calculated from the difference between their new base rate, including the increase, and their existing pay. The increase was to be paid retrospectively for six months from acceptance of the recommendation. Future pay arrangements should be transparent and discussed in advance with the Building and Allied Trades Union and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 6 November 2001.
