In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Chubb Security Personnel Limited apply a 2% pay increase for its security staff from 1 November. The recommendation was signed that day. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the increase under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, saying other security firms had applied it. The company argued further increases could threaten competitiveness and jobs. The Court considered the arguments and the company's trading position, recommended the increase, and called for a review of retrospection in June 2002.
