The Labour Court recommended that seven Aer Lingus part-time clerical and administrative staff who normally worked eight hours on Mondays receive the public holiday off with their normal day’s pay when a holiday fell on Monday. The recommendation, dated 21 December 2000, said the workers should not lose out because of their roster. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said Aer Lingus had changed the arrangement without consultation. The company said it was correcting an anomaly and wanted the staff to work 16 hours over the rest of the week to align with other part-time workers.
