Labour Court recommends talks on pay harmonisation at Liebherr Container Cranes

The Labour Court recommended that Liebherr Container Cranes and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union work towards harmonising earnings over time through discussion and agreement, with a facilitator and regard to the company's competitiveness. The recommendation was dated 27 July 2000. The dispute concerned pay differences between employees hired before and after October 1994, as well as the union's claim for profit sharing. The Court said the company's £300 payments in 1998 and 1999 were a genuine response, but that the process was flawed and should be accompanied by a partnership process.
