The Labour Court recommended that the pay agreement for Dublin Port Authority's general workers continue as implemented, with the position reconsidered when the agreement ends. The recommendation was signed on 12 June 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought restoration of the 85% pay differential with craft workers, arguing that the technical craftsman grade had replaced the previous craft grade. The Court said the relativity was not extinguished by a temporary absence of craftsmen in that grade.
