The Labour Court recommended that Securicor Security Services pay the 2% local bargaining increase from its due date and that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union enter immediate discussions on the company’s proposed offsets. The recommendation was signed on 15 December 1999. The union sought the increase without conditions or phasing. Securicor said it needed offsets because it operated on tight margins in a competitive market. The Court noted the company had not pleaded inability to pay.
