The Labour Court recommended immediate discussions between the Mid-Western Health Board (St. Ita's Hospital), the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Nurses Organisation to resolve a dispute over hospital staffing. The talks were to be completed within four weeks. The Court said the parties had accepted and rejected different elements of an independent review and that the hospital’s staffing problems remained unresolved. It offered to make a further recommendation if the parties could not reach agreement. The recommendation was signed on 13 August 1999.
