In 1999, the Labour Court recommended an additional 3% increase for craftworkers at Dublin Port Company to settle claims arising from a restructuring agreement. The recommendation was signed on 12 August 1999. Group Of Craft Unions had sought a separate 3% Local Bargaining Increase under PESP and a share of savings from work-practice changes. The company said the agreed share of payroll savings was sufficient payment for the productivity measures. The Court did not recommend conceding the Clause 3 claim, finding the restructuring agreement was an alternative to that clause. It said work-practice changes were intended to facilitate staff reductions, but recommended the additional increase to account for other payroll savings that could not be accurately measured.
