In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that 62 workers facing redundancy at Universal Dehydrates accept the company's package if its weekly cap rose from £300 to £400. The package offered four weeks' pay per year of service plus statutory entitlements. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union had sought improved terms and agreement on service dates. The Court recommended discussions on dates for temporary staff after acceptance. It dated the recommendation 11 June 1999.
