Labour Court sends Iarnrod Eireann foreman dispute back to agreed procedures

In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union process their dispute over a Craft Instructor Class 1 foreman post under their agreement for resolving disputes. The union said a worker was doing foreman duties after the post was eliminated and should be upgraded. The Court said the dispute should have been discussed more fully before referral and noted the company had refused to attend conciliation despite its procedural agreement.
