In 1998, the Labour Court deferred a claim for increased remuneration by childcare workers and Unit Directors at the Galway Association For The Mentally Handicapped. Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union brought the claim. The Court considered it a national issue and was reluctant to pre-empt an Expert Group process. It said it would revisit the matter for this employment if it had not been progressed satisfactorily or otherwise resolved within 12 months. The recommendation was dated 10 November 1998.
