In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Finglas Community Jobs Network and the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union jointly refer a pay claim to the funding party. The recommendation was signed on 20 December 1996. The union sought higher pay for six supervisors in Dublin, who earned £195 for a 39-hour week. It said their duties were similar to those of supervisors paid £270, a £75 weekly difference. The organisation accepted the salaries were inadequate but said it could not afford an increase without more funding. The Court said the salaries warranted improvement but did not recommend a specific pay rise. It recommended that the parties refer the issue jointly to the funding party with the aim of increasing the allocation for this category of worker.
