In a recommendation signed on 2 December 1996, the Labour Court said it was not empowered to hear a worker’s pension dispute with Novum Refrigeration Technology Limited. The worker had retired in 1992 and said he had been unable to join the company pension scheme in 1991 because of his age. The Employment Appeals Tribunal had previously found in his favour in an unfair-dismissal case and awarded him £7,500. The Labour Court said the pension issues had already been considered by the tribunal.
