The Labour Court recommended that the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital, Clontarf increase its offer to 10 workers from £40,000 to £60,000, in a recommendation dated 3 September 1996. The Irish Nurses' Organisation sought compensation for night-duty premiums, additional annual leave and an hourly-rate adjustment after the introduction of a 39-hour week. The hospital said £40,000 was the maximum it could offer. The Court recommended paying £40,000 when the recommendation issued and the balance 12 months later, divided among the workers according to their service, in full and final settlement.
