In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Teagasc regrade two posts and pay the employees at the equivalent of Principal Officer (Finance), from 1 June 1993. The Court found the staff concerned had been dealt with unfairly. The recommendation was signed on 20 June 1996. The Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union said the posts had been excluded from an earlier grade review at management's request and should be regraded as promised. Teagasc argued that responsibilities had changed, fewer people reported to Senior Inspectors and the claim raised efficiency and cost concerns.
