In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Leo Laboratories Limited’s pay offer be accepted and that 80 administrative and technician staff receive a £225 lump sum, matching the payment made to operatives. The recommendation was signed on 3 May 1995. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a pay increase, arguing that the staff had helped implement computerised systems and workplace changes. Leo Laboratories Limited said the computer system was covered by an existing agreement and that national pay agreements restricted additional claims. The Court considered the company’s offer not unreasonable and recognised the staff’s significant co-operation in implementing change.
