In 1995, the Labour Court recommended immediate negotiations over pay parity for seven clinical photographers employed in the health services. The recommendation was signed on 2 May 1995. I M P A C T brought the claim. Voluntary Hospitals and the Department of Health were the management side named in the case. The union pointed to similar duties and a 10% pay gap between the basic civil service photographer grade and the senior health services grade. Management argued the claim could bring increases above 20% and have wider effects across the public sector. The Court found an anomaly that needed attention and criticised delays in handling the claim. It recommended meaningful negotiations with assistance from a Labour Relations Commission industrial relations officer.
