In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Irish Glass Bottle Company Limited's position on team working be upheld in its dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 27 April 1995. The union argued an agreement on bottle orientation covered hand packing only. The company said it allowed additional workers to join a team in automatic packing so bottles could be sorted and packed to customers' requirements. The Court concluded team working was essential for the company to remain competitive and considered its position reasonable.
