The Labour Court recommended that Barford Meats Limited pay a £2 weekly increase from 26 April 1994 and provide an extra day of leave in 1994/95, subject to ending the seven-minute Friday afternoon break and banning smoking in the factory. The rehearing followed a dispute over a 3% increase sought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on behalf of 45 workers. Barford Meats had offered £1.25 a week from the date of agreement and an extra day's leave, conditional on the same workplace changes. The Labour Court signed its recommendation on 19 December 1994.
