The Labour Court recommended that the Western Health Board and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union seek to finalise arrangements over night duty at Sacred Heart Home in Castlebar. The recommendation was signed on 16 December 1994. The dispute concerned 33 female non-nursing attendants seeking night duty in female wards. The Court found that nursing staff were doing work proper to non-nursing staff and noted that staffing levels were inadequate. It recommended referring the matter back if changes had not resolved the issue by 31 January 1995, so it could make a definitive recommendation.
