In 1993, the Labour Court found that Arthur Guinness Son & Company Dublin Limited was honouring its agreement with the Guinness Skilled Group of Unions, TEEU and AEU by maintaining five Plant Assistant posts with flexibility in their allocation. The finding was dated 22 December 1993. The unions sought to have a vacancy in the Packaging Department filled under the parties’ agreement. The company said there was insufficient work in Packaging and that assigning a post to Distribution maintained the agreed total of five. The Court was satisfied that the October 1989 agreement was being followed, with the five posts filled within the flexibility it allowed.
