In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that CPV Limited calculate severance payments using employees’ normal weekly pay, including overtime, under the Redundancy Payments Act. It found the company had not calculated payments in accordance with the agreement dated 30 June 1993. The Technical Engineering And Electrical Union brought the dispute after eight workers did not accept the payments offered. The company argued that its interpretation of the agreement was correct and said more than 90% of the workforce had accepted its calculations. The recommendation was dated 23 November 1993.
