In 1993, the Labour Court recommended a 33 1/3% premium for Sunday work at tracks operated by subsidiaries of Bord Na Gcon. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought double time with a four-hour minimum, while the company said Sunday racing would be trialled and Sunday work would be voluntary. The Court cited the unusual working arrangements, voluntary Sunday work and the company's deteriorating financial position. The recommendation was signed on 8 November 1993.
