The Labour Court did not recommend that Telecom Eireann concede a worker’s claim that he had been treated unfairly in promotion selection. Its recommendation was dated 23 July 1993. The worker, a Technician Class 1 in the Dublin district, said an engineer lowered his assessment mark without good reason, preventing him from passing a Senior Technician panel test. He also challenged the outcome of his appeal interview. Telecom Eireann submitted that promotion followed agreed procedures and provided a written response, but did not attend the Court hearing. The Court found no grounds to support the worker’s assertion that the selection process was unfair or that he should have succeeded. It therefore did not recommend conceding his claim.
