In 1993, the Labour Court recommended a phased 3% pay increase for workers at Campbell Catering Limited. The recommendation was dated 3 May 1993. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought the increase for workers in Dublin. Campbell Catering cited recession, pressure from clients to reduce subsidies and concern that higher labour costs could put jobs at risk. The Court recommended two increases of 1.50%: one from 1 June 1993 and the other from 1 December 1993. It said the company could seek to have the cost covered in negotiations with clients over contract reviews.
