In 1993, the Labour Court recommended redundancy payments for four technicians at Bord Na Gcon after a new tote system removed their work. The recommendation was dated 17 May 1993. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union questioned whether all four redundancies were needed and sought improved terms. Bord Na Gcon cited continuing losses. The Court recommended £41,000, £40,000, £34,000 and £25,000 for Workers A, B, C and D respectively, as settlement of outstanding issues. It did not recommend changing pension arrangements. The workers were to receive priority interviews with the tote contractor for maintenance work and could bid for contract work on provincial tracks.
