In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that C.B. Packaging Limited negotiate retrospective pay for six printers after installing a new press, allowing for the training period. The recommendation was dated 8 February 1993. The Irish Print Union sought back pay under a registered agreement. The company said it was not bound by the agreement and had incurred extra overtime costs during training. The Court considered the time between installation and settlement of the rate and recommended that the company negotiate an amount of retrospection that took account of training.
