Labour Court recommends reference and £200 payment to shop assistant

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Hugh Boggan Motors Ltd provide a worker with a suitable employment reference and pay her £200 in full and final settlement of a dispute over alleged unfair dismissal. The recommendation was signed on 29 April 1992. The worker, a shop assistant, said she could not continue an extra Thursday shift because of changed family commitments and claimed she was dismissed after the parties could not agree on a revised rota. The company said she resigned after refusing proposed shift arrangements. The Court said more effort and goodwill might have produced an amicable solution and recommended the reference and payment.
