Labour Court recommends P.E.S.P. increases to basic pay at Dawn Meats

The Labour Court recommended that P.E.S.P. increases be applied to the basic rate of pay at Dawn Meats Limited, after the union sought to extend them to piece rates. The recommendation was signed on 10 February 1992. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that excluding piece-rate workers would freeze their pay. Dawn Meats said the agreement covered basic rates only and warned that higher piece rates could reduce production and competitiveness. The Court also said bonus-structure issues should be discussed by the parties.
