In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Computer Maintenance Ireland Limited pay a worker an additional £600 after a dispute over severance when the company closed its Irish operation. The recommendation was signed on 31 January 1992. The worker, who had managed a seven-person division, had received statutory redundancy pay and an ex-gratia payment. He argued the settlement did not reflect his work and cited larger payments to two other managers. The company said it had made equal settlements to redundant workers and that a larger payment would be unfair. The Court recommended the extra payment, citing his management role and service to the company.
