The Labour Court recommended that Irish Press Newspapers Limited restore staffing in its electrical section to six electricians. It recommended that the union accept the previous working and shift arrangements, as modified by the supplemental agreement. Pending recruitment, payment for lieu shifts was to be at overtime rates from 29 November. The recommendation was signed on 24 January 1992. The Electrical Trades Union had sought compensation for a new roster that increased night and weekend work, or a return to six electricians. The Court concluded that reducing the section from six electricians to five was not operable.
