The Labour Court recommended that Nec Semiconductors Ireland Limited concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for a defined incremental scale for clerical staff. Once that change was made, the company and union were to negotiate salary adjustments based on comparisons with similar workers elsewhere. The recommendation was signed on 15 January 1992. The union had sought a £25 weekly increase and regular service-based increments. The Court found the existing pay-review system unsatisfactory and the company’s pay ranges below regional averages for similar workers.
