In 1991, the Labour Court recommended against the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim to have a worker reinstated by B.M.R. Limited. Its recommendation was dated 5 November 1991. The union sought reinstatement after the company dismissed the worker during her probation. The company said enquiries showed the funeral she cited as the reason for missing work had taken place before the date she gave, and raised concerns about her suitability and work performance. The Court noted she was on probation and said the company had acted within its rights in the circumstances.
