In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Unifi Textured Yarns Europe Limited’s offer be accepted, subject to restoring the 45-minute Friday lunch break. The recommendation was signed on 1 November 1991. The Court recommended that the Amalgamated Engineering Union and the Electrical Trades Union accept the company’s offer of 68 hours’ paid leave to cover the claimants’ full entitlement. It also recommended immediate local discussions about shift workers’ time off and flexibility.
