In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Data Products Limited recognise a worker elected to the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union committee as an employee representative. The recommendation was dated 14 March. The dispute arose from terms attached to the worker’s reinstatement after a 1979 dispute, which barred the company from recognising him as an employee representative. The Court recommended that he continue in his elected role, but not seek another office for 12 months. It also recommended that the company and union negotiate changes to the agreement’s clause 6 during that period.
